FAQs about High School Musical by Jen
As many of you know we are planning on doing Disney’s High School Musical on the Oldfather Stage this summer. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the production.
Question: How old do I need to be to audition for the show?
Answer: You can be any age (7 -19 years old). However, we are planning to cast the show with individuals who look like they are in High School. If you are 11 or 12 but think you can pass for 14 or 15 then you are welcome to audition. If you are 8 and want to audition for the experience you are more than welcome!! Just keep in mind that we are planning to cast the show with High School age kids.
Question: How should I prepare for the audition?
Answer: Everyone auditioning should have a song prepared and be ready to dance! The song can be from the show but it doesn’t have to be. Sing something that really demonstrates your range. Please wear comfortable clothing and close-toed tennis shoes (or dance shoes) to auditions.
Question: When are auditions and how do I sign up?
Answer: Auditions will be Monday, June 2 and 3 starting at 6:00 PM and call-backs will be Wednesday June 4 at 6:00 PM. If you are planning to audition, you will need to call Jen Fletcher at 357-5213 to sign up for a time slot.
Question: What will the rehearsal schedule entail?
Answer: Since we are doing the 2-act version of the show, rehearsals will be more extensive than with our other academy productions. Rehearsals will be 5 days a week (Mondays thru Thursdays from 6:00 – 9:00 and Sundays from 1:00 – 4:00). Music rehearsal times (which occur during the first two weeks) may differ from this schedule and will be announced at casting.
Question: Is this still an academy class?
Answer: Yes! Since this is an academy show, students will be charged to participate. The fee is $95.00 for non-members and $80.00 for members. Scholarships are available.
Question: When does the show run?
Answer: We are performing HSM for three weekends in August. We are opening on August 1st and running through August 17th.

If you plan to buy tickets for High School Musical, they went on sale at 12:01am this morning online. You can buy them here on the website. Or, if you’d prefer to buy them through the box office, they open at 10am today. (785) 357-5211.
This show WILL SELL OUT, so please make your reservations early. Performances run August 1-17, 2008. Tickets are $8 plus tax.

Saw the performance on 8/14 – WOW – what an AWESOME show. The performers were INCREDIBLE. The director did a WONDERFUL job and I was very impressed with the cast members and the performances they turned in. It was a wonderful evening and I cannot wait to attend more shows in the future. WAY TO GO!!!!!
