WAREHOUSE PLAYERS

Warehouse Players are divided into three classes that offer more advanced instruction in their respective areas, workshops related to their class, and participate in the All-Camp activities! Whether your child would like to participate in the same class each session or get a taste of all 3 during the summer, this program is great for those wanting a more focused class on their interests. Your child will experience a full, comprehensive theatre experience should their goal be wanting to continue with theatre in school: become a Bathhouse Player at our sister theatre, Helen Hocker; or at TCT; or just have an exceptionally fun experience this summer!

CLASSES:

MUSICAL
During this 3-week camp period, your actor will go through the process of auditioning for a musical, experience music and dance rehearsals, and in the end put on a complete musical production! Taught by instructors with professional backgrounds in musical theatre, each camper will shine on stage as they learn the ins and outs of musical theatre and what it takes to put on a production. This class will be supported technically by the Warehouse Tech Players (see below) and will perform the final two days of the session.

PLAYWRITING
Don’t let the name fool you! This class is designed for those wanting experience in acting, directing, or playwriting. From idea to performance, your child will be there focusing on playwriting, characterization, dialogue, and performance. Campers will work in teams to create original scripts related to the session theme. Teams will also support each other in regards to costumes, set, and props for each other’s scripts. Campers will perform their show the final two days of the session.

TECH
This class is perfect for those interested in learning about the technical aspects of a theatre production including the designing and building of sets, costumes, and props. Their primary focus as a class will be the musical the Warehouse players are performing that session. During that first week they will learn design concepts as well as how to use our child-sized power tools (with your permission, of course!). Over time they will be assigned a role to take charge of and work together on putting on a technically amazing show! This class is taught by technical theatre professionals and is overseen closely by the Education Director as well as
the resident Set and Lighting Designer.
